The Wedding Breakfast - part 1

Have you ever wondered why the meal at a wedding is referred to as a "breakfast"?

Wonder no more as here is the answer......' Traditionally, couples used to fast from the night before their wedding, only breaking the fast after their vows. The wedding feast is their first meal as newlyweds, the first meal of the day.

So as we are talking about food we though we'd share with you some of the delights our chef has to offer and in this post we will be concentrating on the Starter.

We offer 3 menus, each with 3 starters, 3 mains and 3 desserts, however all can be adapted to suit your requirements. Everything is bought locally and cooked fresh on the day, if you are standing by the kitchens from around midday there is always a lovely aroma!  Many products including the micro herbs and edible flowers are purchased from a farm shop in Earls Barton.

A Selection of the Starters

Traditional British picnic platter, Melton Mowbray pork pie, selection of cheese, home baked ham, rustic scotch egg & traditional pickle (this one is best served on sharing platters for the table).

Smoked salmon roulade filled with garlic & fresh garden herb cream cheese served with citrus salad & brown bread & butter

Baked avocado stuffed with Cray fish tails topped with a mustard morney sauce

Antipasti platters - deli hams, continental cheeses, honey pickled vegetables & speciality breads
(this option can be served on wooden boards in centre of the table)
